EWN reports that Parliament has accused the National Education Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) of leading a political campaign to destabilise the national legislature.
The union has been calling for the removal of Secretary to Parliament, Gengezi Mgidlana, and management claims it has seen the agenda for an upcoming Nehawu branch meeting that includes an item titled “campaigns to suspend secretary to Parliament”. But Nehawu’s parliamentary branch chairperson Sthembiso Tembe said claims of a conspiracy were a lie. He indicated: “Issues that we have with Mgidlana are general issues of management, maladministration and that is not a new thing.”
