metrorail thumb medium90 92EWN reports that Metrorail says there is no doubt that the attack on three of its train carriages at its Explanade station near Cape Town is linked to a criminal element in an illegal strike by SA Transport and Allied Workers’ Union (Satawu) affiliated workers.

Thousands of commuters were left stranded on Friday night because trains were not operational and vandalism and cable theft forced cancellations on the northern and central lines.  Metrorail said workers have been on strike and intimidating other employees despite a court interdict declaring the strike illegal.  There is a reward out for the capture of those behind the attack.
