Traveller24 reports that South African Airways (SAA) has warned the public about a fake recruitment scam inviting interested parties to apply for training as cabin crew staff with the airline.
In a statement, SAA indicated that the scam had been circulated via social media, suggesting the airline was looking for 500 candidates with matric qualification to be trained as cabin crew. "We distance ourselves from that communication which is misleading the public and has a potential to create confusion among SAA employees,” said SAA spokesperson Tlali Tlali. He also confirmed that SAA was currently under an employment freeze in order to bring its employ levels to financial stability as part of the airline's long term turnaround strategy. The airline said the scam was currently under investigation and advised those who had already submitted their personal information to report the matter to the police.
