gunNews24 reports that police said on Saturday that a Durban taxi driver had been shot and killed by his own passenger.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane said that the driver was on the corner of Selborne and Derick Uys Road in Umbilo, Durban, on Saturday morning when he was shot multiple times in his vehicle.  "He was allegedly shot by one of the passengers who was in the taxi.  He died at the scene and the suspect fled the scene on foot," Zwane indicated.  It is still unclear what the motive behind the shooting was.  A murder docket has been opened and will be investigated, Zwane confirmed.
