News24 reports that representatives of the United Association of SA (Uasa) and the ATKV were due on Tuesday to continue talks in an attempt to resolve a strike by personnel at the Hartenbos resort.
On Monday morning, 55 workers, all Uasa members, commenced a wage-related strike. Later that day, talks took place, but consensus could not be reached. Beyers Claassen of Uasa said that the workers were unhappy with their salary increases and wanted all members to get the same increase. At the CCMA, Uasa apparently agreed to a 6% wage increase as well as R160 extra per month per employee for transport and general expenses. When last week the members got their increase letters, the amount of R160 had been reduced to R130. ATKV said this was because its situation had since changed. (Loosely translated from Afrikaans)
