ZululandUniversitySunday Times reports that a probe into a new degrees-for-sale scam that has rocked the University of Zululand shows that more than 4,000 people may have paid for fake degrees there over the past 20 years.

At a university senate meeting on Monday, a proposal was made to investigate all postgraduate degrees in law, business management, public administration and education.  Police believe the latest scam involves 400 to 500 fake degrees, of which many were teaching qualifications.  Similar degrees-for-sale scandal rocked the university in 2008 and before.  Two university employees were suspended last month in connection with the latest scam.  Current and former students have apparently threatened on social media to name and shame those who are believed to have purchased fake qualifications on the university’s two campuses in Richards Bay and KwaDlangezwa.
