strike thumb medium85 85Eskom has confirmed that employees at its Rotek engineering facilities in Germiston downed tools on Wednesday over performance bonuses.  

Workers also downed tools on Monday.  According to News24, about 3,000 workers were involved in the action.  One worker said it was unfair that Eskom employees got 10% bonuses, but they were only being offered 6%.  But Eskom’s Khulu Phasiwe said bonuses were based on whether specific targets were reached.  e commented:  “As everywhere else in the country, if you do not meet your target you don’t get performance bonuses.”
