EWN reported on Monday afternoon that Johannesburg’s Metrobus management was meeting with union leaders to try and resolve issues around a strike by some of its bus drivers.
The demonstration started on Friday and led to the company shutting down all its routes in and around Johannesburg on Monday morning. Thousands of commuters were left stranded when the company suspended services to the more than 200 routes. Management is apparently trying to establish exactly what the workers' grievances are. The company's Esther Dryer said: "They are still protesting but the company is engaging the union, talking to union leaders to try and resolve the issue."
