BDLive reports that Secretary to Parliament Gengezi Mgidlana has charged four officials of the National Education Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) over disruptions to a staff meeting, the union said on Thursday.
Two of the four are union members, while the other two are union shop stewards. Among them is Nehawu parliamentary chairperson S’thembiso Tembe. The officials are reportedly facing charges of insubordination and gross misconduct after Mgidlana tried to address a staff meeting on Tuesday morning, but was prevented from doing so by staff. Tembe alleges the charges are part of an effort to purge the staff body of union members who continue to frustrate Mgidlana.
