pikitupThe New Age reports that Amanda Nair, CEO of Joburg refuse removal agency Pikitup, has had her special leave extended to allow for the finalisation of an investigation into her conduct and claims of corruption.

This comes after Nair’s leave “on medical grounds” expired on 9 May in the wake of the truce sealed between Pikitup, the City of Johannesburg and the SA Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu) which brought an extended strike to an end.  Pikitup spokesperson Jacky Mashapu said:  “She requested an extension of her leave to allow the process of investigation into the allegations levelled against her to be completed and finalised in her absence without any hint of bias or interference.”  Samwu deputy regional secretary Paul Tlhabang welcomed the decision to institute an investigation into the allegations directed at Nair.  He said:  “As long as she is not at work, we are happy…  We have provided a dossier of new and existing information.”
