sibanyeBDLive reports that the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) and Sibanye Gold on Wednesday said the union had agreed to suspend its wage strike, pending further engagement.  

Amcu had intended to down tools during the Wednesday afternoon shift to pursue its 2015 wage demand of R12,500, but, following meetings, agreed to suspend the strike.  Amcu, which maintains it is the majority union at Sibanye, had said at the weekend it would resolutely pursue its demand and not be bound by a three-year agreement signed by three other unions.
