Samwu takes on De Lille over extended public works programme

samwuThe SA Municipal Workers' Union and the City of Cape Town are said to be set for a showdown today over the quality of temporary jobs provided under the city's extended public works programme. The union and a number of community organisations will take to the streets to protest that people employed through the Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille’s special project are paid R60 a day, while permanent staff earn up to R240 a day.
