ANC, Sadtu in KZN declare truce over teaching essential service call

The KwaZulu-Natal branches of the ANC and the SA Democratic Teachers' Union have ended a quarrel over a proposal by the former that teaching be declared an essential service. They agreed that the ANC resolution was a "call for a discussion aimed at finding a binding commitment from students, teachers, parents and government to ensure an uninterrupted process of teaching and learning".
