Boost 6.5% pay rise offer before talks, say Cosatu public sector unions

cosatu_thumb_medium80_102Public sector unions linked to Cosatu want the government to improve its pay offer of 6.5% and a 1.8% pay progression for satisfactory performers before they return to talks. Meanwhile, Public Service Minister Lindiwe Sisulu said yesterday that she knew the independent non-Cosatu unions were considering a 7% settlement, down from 8%. In reaction, Chris Klopper of the Independent Labour Caucus said: “If she (offers) 7% percent, that is better and (we) will consider it”.
