Freedom of Expression Institute disappointed by Satawu riot liability ruling

The Constitutional Court ruling holding trade union Satawu liable for riot damage claims was disappointing, the Freedom of Expression Institute said today. However, the Institute was encouraged that the judgment recognised the importance of the right to assemble, by stating that the right to freedom of assembly was central to SA’s democracy.
