Calm in Kimberley after striking workers wreak havoc in city

Calm appeared to have returned to Kimberley yesterday morning as city officials and leaders of striking municipal workers sat down to resolve their differences. This followed a week of violent strike and protest action by members of the SA Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu|) over the alleged salary increase of the Sol Plaatje municipal manager to R2m per annum and other issues.
