Task team recommendations on mining safety stoppages to be implemented

Mineral Resources Minister Susan Shabangu said yesterday that an implementation plan was being drafted to adopt new recommendations for dealing with alleged inconsistencies in the application of Section 54 of the Mine Health and Safety Act, in terms of which mandatory safety stoppages can be imposed. She said her department was very much pleased that all stakeholders have found common ground on the issue.
