Firearm retraining for 6,500 police who failed competency tests

Some 6,536 police officers who failed firearm competency tests are to undergo urgent retraining. This follows the leaking of an internal report according to which 27,400 police officers were found not to be competent to use state-issued firearms. The SA Police Union obtained an interdict last week, preventing senior police management from disarming police officers.
