Alternative employment found for 75% of mothballed Marikana’s workers

In an operational update, Aquarius Platinum says that efforts to minimise job losses associated with the closure of its Marikana mine have been fruitful, with some 75% of workers successfully placed in other organisations. The company’s Blue Ridge and Everest mines have also been placed on care and maintenance. It also reports that its contract mining agreement with Murray & Roberts Cementation has been mutually terminated, with Aquarius to become an owner operator.
