Striking bus driver to march in Johannesburg today

satawu thumb medium90 101The New Age reports that the fight over a 1% wage increase will see the SA Transport and Allied Workers’ Union (Satawu) marching through Johannesburg’s CBD today in support of the national bus drivers’ strike. Employers have increased their offer to 9% in an effort to end the three-week strike, while the unions have dropped their demand from 13% to 10%. Workers would consider anything from 10% up, said Satawu’s Gauteng secretary Chris Nkosi.
