Solidarity concerned over rise in deaths on platinum mines

The total number of deaths as a result of mine accidents during the first five months of the year came to 48, compared to 46 in the same period last year, with the rise being ascribed by union Solidarity to a 29% increase in deaths on platinum mines. Moreover, 75% of the fatal accidents reported occurred in North West, Gauteng and Limpopo.
