The SA Clothing & Textile Workers’ Union reports that the wage negotiations for the general goods & handbags leather sector were settled with a one-year agreement last Thursday in the National Bargaining Council for the Leather Manufacturing Industry. A 7.5% wage increase was agreed to for some 2,000 workers in 83 factories, which will come into effect on 1 July 2012.
