It is reported by The New Age that an external facilitator will tomorrow be headhunted in a bid to settle the prolonged wage negotiations in the public service. Talks deadlocked last week, with unions hitting out at the state’s 6.5% wage rise response to their demand of 8%. Chris Klopper of the Independent Labour Caucus commented: “We’re going to force the state back on bargaining, we’re going to force the employer to consider a settlement for both parties.”
