Hassles for military veterans who want to register online for benefits

An “absolute flood” of enquiries to the SA Military Veterans website caused it to crash as old soldiers attempted to establish whether they met the definition of a military veteran to qualify for benefits. The site has been down since last Thursday. This follows a month-long registration process, which has been extended, at military bases across the country. However, the Department of Military Veterans says that it was never the intention to allow online registrations and applicants must go to one of 17 military bases where they will be assisted.
