Treasury seeks to regulate tax advisers

The Treasury has proposed that “recognised controlling bodies” for tax practitioners be established, which would pave the way for these professionals to be regulated under the Tax Administration Act. This follows discussions over the past few months, with the Institute of Tax Practitioners praising the regulatory model proposed and saying it would go a long way to eliminating the “bad apples” in the industry.
