Rioting Implats staff to lose out on Esop benefit

Impala Platinum confirmed yesterday that the 17,200 workers who were axed for engaging in an illegal strike at its Rustenburg operation last month would lose their slice of the firm’s multibillion rand employee share ownership scheme (Esop). A total of 24,000 Implats employees were beneficiaries of the 10-year-old Esop that was announced in 2006.
