angloamerican fullBusiness Report writes that the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and the United Association of SA (Uasa) on Monday took Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) and the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) to the Labour Court.

They are questioning the validity of a three-year wage agreement signed last month, saying it is void because it was unlawfully concluded.  According to the NUM and Uasa, the agreement flew in the face of the rights that both of them enjoyed as equal partners in terms of the Employment Relations Agreement (ERA) which bound the four parties.  Uasa and NUM want to be allowed to continue with the annual salary negotiations with Amplats in compliance with the ERA.  The Labour Court is expected to deliver its judgment on the case on Wednesday.
