nelsonmandelabayHeraldLive reports that the Nelson Mandela Bay refuse strike might come to an end on Tuesday if workers accept an agreement hammered out with the municipality.

The strike continued on Monday.  SA Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu) regional secretary Mqondisi Nodongwe said earlier the municipality had withdrawn from the agreed payout, but, after meeting with acting city manager Johann Mettler, he indicated that the union had come to an agreement with Mettler.  Yet the agreement still had to be presented to the workers on Tuesday.  “It will be up to them to accept the agreement or not,” Nodongwe indicated.
