protestNews24 reports that emergency medical services (EMS) personnel in Cape Town were due to march on Wednesday against targeted attacks on them while they are on duty.

This year has seen an increase in the number of violent acts directed at ambulance services in the city.  "These despicable individuals who claim to be 'members' of these very communities, have turned our staff's own vulnerability against them - and this while our staff are only wishing to execute the mandate that the citizens of this city have given them," a statement by city's EMS reads.  Marchers were due to gather in Philippi, Browns Farm, in Cape Town at 10:00.
