ambulanceEWN reports that emergency services workers were due to stage a demonstration in Cape Town on Monday.  Paramedics are calling for increased security while they’re on duty in the wake of a spate of attacks on staff in Cape Town over the past few months.

The Western Cape Health Department will also be launching a campaign to try an address the issue.  Emergency services provincial manager Phumzile Papu said:  "We need to come up with a solution.  If not, this is actually going to be bad, not only for Cape Town, this will be bad for the whole country.  If one person dies, we will be in trouble, the whole country, so whoever is doing this is actually an enemy of the State, not only the enemy of a particular community."
