FordHeraldLive reports that Ford Motor Company South Africa is pumping R2.5-billion into plant expansions in preparation for production of a new range of vehicles.

Company executives said on Tuesday the hefty investment would help create 1,200 jobs in the company’s South African operations and within its local supplier base.  The company’s new SUV, the Everest, will be manufactured at its Silverton assembly plant in Pretoria, adding to the production of the Ford Ranger.  Everest production will be 10,000 a year.
